Brixton Public Meeting
'IF we don't do the impossible, we shall be faced with the unthinkable'.  - Petra Kelly quoted by Deepak last week at our meeting

Deepak Rughani made strong case at our Public Meeting last week for a moratorium on destruction of the rainforests.  All of our at cutting carbon locally will be meaningless without the natural carbon absorbing quality the forests provide.    Speeches by Deepak, Phil Thorhill and Johnathon Essex were all excellent and reinforced the urgency of showing support of legislation change by attending the National Climate March December 8th.  TTB will be there, join us.

ABUNDANCE project FUNDED!

We have just heard that the Green Mapping and Demonstration Urban Agriculture project (see ABUNDANCE page) initiated with University College London has got funding! The first meeting on stakeholders and interested people took place today in the Guinness Trust Estate where the food growing project is planned. 25 people attended. Other estates we know of interested in food growing include Tulse Hill Estate and Roupell Park Estate. If you know of more put them in touch.

A food group seems about to burst into action. We hope to establish a Brixton Food Hub that can be a distribution point for Brixton produced garden and allotment produce. We want to set up a garden and fruit tree share scheme. If interested contact Adam Watt  Later this year we will have an Open Space day on Feeding Brixton after Oil with a delicious local lunch in the middle.
