Minutes from meeting:
The meeting on October 1st was attended by 32 people in the Assembly Room of Town Hall. After Duncan welcomed everyone and introduced the agenda, Jody gave a brief update on TTB activities over the summer. We are most proud of our 400+ people on our mailing list, on the successes of the Hyde Farm group, and the ECHO energy project. Duncan gave a short climate change update, and introduced the background & history of the Transition Town Movement to new comers in the meeting. At this point, we went around the room and people introduced themselves and indicated what how they might want to participate in Transition Towns Brixton. We were pleased to have been offered help with not only the core TTB activitites ('Hub' actions) but new groups formed to start the creation of the Brixton Energy Descent Plan. The groups were: energy, food, built environment, transport, and communications. Other smaller groups were mentioned and will grow out of later meetings. At this point the meeting broke down into the various groups and visioning processes were used to create the initial plans for energy descent in the various areas. We look forward to hearing back from all groups and will post the results of the various plans on this website shortly. If you have missed this meeting but would like to participate in the group, log on to this website and blog in the group of your choice - or contact us and we will put you in contact with the group.
Many thanks for all that turned up on Monday, and for those who missed out- don't worry, we will do it again in 4 weeks!
